Rep. Perry hosts 3rd “Jokes with Jeff” Fundraiser
Representative Jeffrey Davis Perry (R-Sandwich) will host a FUNraiser to help him prepare for the 2008 election with a night of laughter (professional comedians). The 3rd version of “Jokes with Jeff” will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Radisson Hotel/Cape Cod Comedy Lounge, which is located at 287 Iyannough Road, Hyannis. Doors open 7:00pm – Comedy Show starts at 8:00pm
Joining Representative Perry on stage will be three professional comedians, including Tim McIntire who was named "One of the Top 10 Comedians in New England" by the Boston Globe and has been seen on Comedy Central and Comcast's Comedy Spotlight. Also appearing will be Joe List who is the preferred opening act for comedians like Dane Cook and Josh Gondleman who will serve as the MC for the event.
“With all of my political events, I try to offer my supporters something different than the usual cocktail reception and political speech type event. Joke’s with Jeff has become one of my most enjoyed events as although some political humor sneaks in now and then, the professional comedians are not political, so everyone finds something to laugh about” said Representative Perry.
Donations requested are $30.00 per person. If you would like to attend, please send in your check today to the Committee to Elect Jeffrey Perry, PO Box 1435, Sandwich, MA 02563 to reserve a seat. Seating is limited to the first 200 reservations and it is suggested that only persons eighteen years of age and older attend.

REPRESENTATIVES GIFFORD AND PERRY ANNOUNCE DHCD AWARD TO BOURNE HOUSING AUTHORITY
BOSTON – State Representatives Susan Williams Gifford (R-Wareham) and Jeffrey D. Perry (R-Sandwich) announced today that the Bourne Housing Authority has received a grant in the amount of $25,000 from the Department of Housing and Community Development. These funds will be used for the emergency improvement of the Authority’s Waterhouse Apartments development. Improvements will include the replacement of three boilers and design plans to replace the remaining thirteen boilers.
Rep. Gifford noted that the grant award could not have come at a better time. “There is no secret that we are facing budgetary constraints due to a continuing increase in state spending and limited revenue. Timing is everything and these repairs are long overdue,” said Rep. Gifford. “Our Housing Authorities face a constant struggle to secure funds not only for increased operational expenses but emergency repairs. These grants are so important and much appreciated.”
“I am pleased DCHD has awarded the Bourne Housing Authority funds for the requested emergency repairs. The goal of this state program is to enhance the quality of life of residents,” Perry said, “DHCD provides professional assistance and financial resources in an effort to promote safe, decent affordable housing opportunities, economic vitality of communities and sound municipal management. I look forward to continuing to work with the Bourne Authority to address their repair issues.”

Perry pushes for relief on Homeowners’ Insurance
BOSTON - As State Representative to a large coastal region in the Commonwealth, Representative Jeffrey Davis Perry (R-Sandwich) has formerly requested Nonnie Burnes, the State’s Commissioner of Insurance, to take several specific actions in an effort to provide Cape Cod residents with relief from the growing problem of rising homeowners’ insurance rates.
The Representative is specifically supporting the request by the Citizens for Homeowners Insurance Reform to undertake several actions to reform the current system and allow for more transparency in the decision making process. In his correspondence to the Commissioner, Representative Perry made several requests on behalf of his constituents.
First, Perry requests the creation of a specialized Massachusetts state model to ensure the information used by modelers is fair and accurate. Second, he asks for support on legislation that allows the commissioner to consider insurance companies profits when requesting a rate increase. Third, the Representative seeks to modify the practice which allows for “automatic assignment of set ratio’s to part B-C-and D of policies.”
Representative Perry stated to the Commissioner, “These inflated numbers on each consumer’s policy many times falsely increases the Probable Maximum Loss. Lastly, I ask you to support the appointment of three new citizen positions of the Fair Plan Executive Board; one from the South Coast, one from the North Shore, and one from the Cape and Islands.”
In addition, Representative Perry requested the postponement of the proposed 25% rate increase to the Fair Plan while these changes to the current system are being evaluated.
